NJBIZ Honors 2018 New Jersey’s Healthcare Heroes; Indian Health Camp of New Jersey won Education Hero Award

Indian Health Camp of New Jersey – IHCNJ received 2018 NJ BIZ Healthcare Heroes Award for the Education Hero – Organization category. Indian Health Camp of New Jersey is a non-profit organization providing health screening and disease prevention education and counseling via health fair activities for the past 20 years. To date, under the leadership of their President Dr. Tushar Patel and Trustee Dr. Ashok Patel, the organization provided free services to more than 10,000 individuals who are uninsured or under-insured and detected more than 3,000 chronic diseases abnormalities and provided early intervention to reduce long term complications and save lives.

The Healthcare Heroes finalists were recognized and the winner in each category was announced during an awards breakfast and ceremony on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at The Palace at Somerset Park in Somerset, New Jersey. The honorees were also highlighted in a special supplement to NJBIZ. The award program produced by NJBIZ, New Jersey’s premier business news publication, was sponsored by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ, Hackensack Meridian Health, CareOne, McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter LLP, New Jersey Hospital Association, and St. Joseph’s Health.

The Palace at Somerset Park hosted over 400 guests, where everyone came together to celebrate these courageous and noble healthcare specialists and organizations. The event began promptly at 8 a.m. with networking and breakfast and was followed by the awards presentation. The presenting and major sponsors, James A. Robertson, Partner & Chair, McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter, LLP, Allen Karp, Senior Vice President of Healthcare Management, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ, Tim Hodges, Chief Strategy Officer, CareOne and Robert C. Garrett, Co-CEO, Hackensack Meridian Health presented the awards on stage to each honoree.

The finalists and winners were chosen by an independent panel of judges including: Suzanne Ianni, President & CEO, Hospital Alliance of New Jersey, Dean J. Paranicas, President & CEO, HealthCare Institute of New Jersey, and Judy Schmidt, CEO, New Jersey State Nurses Association. The three judges evaluated the nominations using a scoring system based on heroic actions or programs, impact of nominee’s heroic actions and accomplishments within healthcare.
