Shanti Bhavan Celebrates its 9th Graduating Class

This June, Shanti Bhavan celebrated its ninth graduating class. The class of 2018 is now college bound! The graduates departed campus after a weekend of performances and festivities honoring their achievements. They are now entering universities in fields of study including business, medicine, engineering, and computer applications.

The graduation ceremony also celebrated the Shanti Bhavan class who completed undergraduate programs this year, and the Shanti Bhavan alumni who completed graduate programs. Our college graduates are joining companies like Adobe, ExxonMobil, Lufthansa, and PayPal. The Masters students received degrees in Applied Genetics, Business Administration, International Studies, Psychology, and Public Policy.

We were delighted to celebrate alongside the families of our graduates and a number of esteemed guests and supporters. Linda DuCharme, President of ExxonMobil Global Services Company gave the keynote address. Other honored speakers included Naveen Shukla, CEO of ExxonMobil Services and Technology Private Limited, India; Sanjay Koul, CEO of Timken India Limited; Berit Lindholm, CEO of Bluefish Pharmaceuticals, India; Brian McMurray, Vice President of General Motors Engineering and Operations, India; and R. Gopinath, CEO of GERB Vibrations, India. Representatives from other companies, including Harman International, EFD Induction, Herman Miller India, and XIME were also in attendance.

Many of our graduates are the first in their families to graduate high school and enroll in higher education institutions. Like the eight prior classes of Shanti Bhavan graduates, these graduates signify a step towards ending intergenerational poverty by bringing about positive changes to their families and communities.
