An Indian family of four died in an electric car accident in Pleasanton, California

California: The death of a Malayali family of four in an electric car accident in Pleasanton, near the San Francisco Bay area, shocked the entire community.

Pathanamthitta Koduman Cherukara Tarun George, his wife Rinsi and two children died.

Tarun is the son of George C. George (George) and Anita, who live in Annanagar East, Chennai.

The accident happened on the road near Stoneridge Drive around 9.30pm on Wednesday night. The car crashed into an oak tree on the side of the road and caught fire. The bodies were burnt.

After the accident, the electric car caught fire and was completely burnt. Police told the San Francisco Chronicle that speed may have been a factor, but alcohol and other issues are not believed to be a factor in the crash. Foul play is not suspected.

After the crash, the family's electric car caught fire and was burning again when investigators arrived. I think the car could not be opened.

"We are conducting a thorough investigation and no further information is available at this time," police said on social media. "We will release more details as they become available."

The Pleasanton Unified School District said the children were students at their school.

The video shows the car hit a pole and burst into flames before crashing into a tree, according to a Chron 4 report.

Residents took to social media to report that many drivers were speeding along the winding and tree-lined Foothill Road. Many fatal accidents happen regularly on this road

'Tarun is a very good person. Always energetic. A person who was a pleasure to work with and have conversations with,.' Friend Hasan Sheikh told local media.

Friends, neighbors and children paid their respects at the accident site.

The Pleasanton Unified School District says one of the children was in middle school and the other in elementary school.
