A recent ceremony was held in Edison, New Jersey, by the Gandhian Society (USA) to welcome and honour multiple persons. Dr. Harshad Patel, the Vice Chancellor of Gujarat Vidyapith, and Nithin Mathuria, head of the Aditya Birla Group of Companies, were among those in attendance.

Dr. Sudhir Parikh, chairman of Parikh Worldwide Media, H. R. Shah, chairman of TV Asia, Nishith Patel, president of the Edison Council, former president of FIA, councilman of Woodbridge, dipak shah, president of FISANA, president of INH, and deputy commissioner of international affairs of New York City, Dilip Chauhan, were among the other notable guests.

The event started off with a rope and pole acrobatic demonstration by the Mallakhamb Federation of USA at the Msquare Fitness and Recreation Centre. A member of the Federation's board, Mandar Patil, introduced the group and its programmes to the crowd. A committed young Gandhian volunteer named Surgum Godbole sang Mahatma Gandhi's favourite bhajan, "Vaishnav Jana Tu," with great emotion.

Volunteers from the Gandhian Society traditionally welcomed all distinguished guests with cotton garlands. The diligent efforts of the Gandhian Society to promote Gandhian principles among young people were lauded by Dr. Sudhir Parikh. The Society's commitment to helping disadvantaged communities around the world was lauded by Nishit Patel. Biral Patel praised the Society's efforts to prioritise youth in all its endeavours.

The event's high point came when Bhadra Butala, founder and grand patron of the Gandhian Society, presented a plaque to Nitin Mathuria in honour of his distinguished community leadership.

The delegation from the Gandhian Society had already been to New York City earlier in the day to look at potential locations for the future Gandhian Museum. Organisers have announced that the Museum would feature digital artefacts documenting Mahatma Gandhi's life and will work as a platform to disseminate his ideas and principles to subsequent generations. According to the launch release, the Aditya Birla Group generously donated artefacts and continues to support the initiative.
