President Trump nominates Nicholas Ranjan as federal district judge in Pennsylvania

President Donald Trump has nominated Nicholas Ranjan for federal district court judge in Pennsylvania.
Ranjan, an equity partner in the Pittsburgh office of K&L Gates LLP, is to serve on U.S. District Court for the Western District.
The nomination was applauded by both of the state’s U.S. senators.
‘Mr. Ranjan’s background in private practice and as a federal law clerk will serve him well on the bench,’ said Sen. Bob Casey, a Democrat.
Mr. Ranjan litigates commercial, energy and appellate matters. Ranjan’s practice focuses on a variety of complex litigation and arbitration (including class action defense and energy litigation), appeals, compliance counseling, and internal investigations.
He has been selected by Chambers USA as one of the top commercial litigators in Pennsylvania multiple times, with clients commending his creative approach and responsiveness. He has been selected as a fellow with The Litigation Counsel of America, which is an invitation-only trial lawyer honorary, representing less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers. He serves as a 2017 fellow with the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity.
