Rhythmic Freefall: The Power of Rhythm in Nature

As drummers, we are inspired by the rhythm which exists all around us in nature. There is an undeniable beauty, power and rhythm in the flow of water. Imagine the sight and sound of 100 drummers playing on the banks of a waterfall; the strong beats blending in with the majestic and energetic dance of the water, creating the ultimate rhythmic marriage of sound and nature.

In 1999, we participated in an event which saw 110 tabla players playing tabla on the rocks of Jhanjari Waterfall, a remote location about 45 miles outside of Ahmedabad, India. Many local reporters and photographers were there to cover this event. 20 years later, we are recreating this special event in upstate NY!

This fall, 100 tabla players - professionals, teachers and students of all ages - will participate in this epic celebration of rhythm at the picturesque Treman State Park waterfall in Ithaca. This will be the first event of its kind.
