Death toll in Kashmir terror attack on CRPF rises to 30

Srinagar, Feb 14

At least eight CRPF troopers were killed on Thursday when militants detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) and opened fire at their vehicle on the Srinagar-Jammu highway in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district, police sources said.

The audacious attack took place at Lechpora, about 30 km from Srinagar.

The sources said the death toll could rise as some of the injured Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were in a serious condition.

The Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant group claimed responsibility for the attack.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday condemned the "dastardly attack" on the CRPF in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district which left at least 30 troopers dead.
