FIS honored by Rep. Ron Reynolds and MLK Jr. Grande Parade
Houston, TX
Texas State Representative Ron Reynolds honored the Foundation for India Studies (FIS) for its work and services to the community with a citation.
Charles Stamps, CEO and founder of MLK Grande Parade brought and presented the citation during Dr. Milan Vaishnav's lecture held at the India House on March 30.
The Foundation has been participating in the MLK Parade for the last eight years. In some years, noted community leader Krishna Vavilala led a group dressed as Mahatma Gandhi at the parade.
In 2015, FIS was declared the winner of the parade's Grand Marshal Award. The FIS participation in the parade aims to send a visual message that the Indian community and the grassroots America share the same values of peace and non-violence as practiced by Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
