Michael Barisone, who was a member of the US dressage team in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, was on Friday charged with two counts of attempted murder in New Jersey.

The 54-year-old, who now trains others in the sport, was charged by the police after a woman sustained multiple gunshot wounds on Wednesday afternoon at his training facility.

He was also charged with two counts of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Barisone and another man was also found injured, although not from gunshots. BBC reports that the identity of the woman has not been confirmed by the officials and that she is in stable condition after undergoing surgery.

Barisone trains dressage horses and competitors at his Hawthorne Hill farm site in Long Valley, New Jersey. His students include 2016 Rio Olympics bronze medallist Alison Brock.
