Unveiling of the India Collection at Norwalk Public Library September 15 Indian Consulate Donates Curated Collection to Library

Norwalk, CT, August 26, 2019–The Norwalk Public Library in association with the Connecticut chapter of the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO-CT) and the Consulate General of India are pleased to invite the community to the unveiling of the India Collection, a curated collection of books donated by the Indian Consulate, on Sunday, September 15, from 2 - 4:30 p.m., in the Main library, located at 1 Belden Avenue, Norwalk.

India’s Consul General Sandeep Chakravorty will unveil and present this collection of books about
India - its history, people, culture and politics - to the Norwalk Public Library. Norwalk Mayor Harry S. Rilling will attend along with CT Senator Bob Duff, CT State Representatives and members of the Norwalk Common Council.

“We are so delighted to add these materials to our collection,” said Library Director Christine Bradley.

The program will include performances of Indian music and dance. Authentic Indian snacks, along with soft drinks will be provided.

GOPIO-CT is a non-partisan, secular, civic and community service organization, which promotes awareness of Indian culture, customs and contributions of people of Indian origin (PIOs) through community programs, forums, events and youth activities. It seeks to strengthen partnerships and create an ongoing dialogue with local communities. The Connecticut Chapter was launched in March 2006. GOPIO is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
