Olympic hammer champion Nazarov suspended after doping retest
London, Sep 25: Olympic hammer throw champion Dilshod Nazarov of Tajikistan has been handed a temporary suspension after one of his samples failed a doping retest.
The 37-year-old's sample from the 2011 World Athletics Championships tested positive for the steroid turinabol, confirmed the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), reports BBC Sport.
Nazarov, who won gold in the 2016 Rio Olympics, will miss out on an eighth World Championships appearance in Doha, which starts on Friday.
Nazarov finished 10th in Daegu in 2011 before claiming his only world medal with silver in Beijing in 2015.
His gold medal in Rio de Janerio remains Tajikistan's only gold medal in Olympic history.
