Western India took most 2-5 a.m. Uber trips in 2019
Gurugram,Western India, including cities like Mumbai, Surat, Ahmedabad and Pune, was officially the sleepless region in India in 2019 as it took the most Uber trips between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m., the cab hailing giant announced on Monday in its year-end review report.
In "How India Moved in 2019: A Year in Review" report, Uber highlighted the cities with the highest number of trips and Pool riders, most popular cities where international travellers like to use Uber, popular cities abroad where Indian travellers availed its rides as well as preferred holidays and dates for Uber rides in India.
"We're excited about showcasing how India 'Ubered' in 2019. It's humbling to see that our vision of a multi-modal mobility solution is fitting so well in the everyday life of Indian riders, and that they are taking to our many convenient, reliable and affordable offerings," said Prabhjeet Singh (Head of Cities), India and South Asia, Uber.
Delhi and Bengaluru recorded the highest and the second-highest number of overall Uber trips. Bengaluru was also the city with the highest number of people opting for UberPOOL rides, followed by the national capital.
"We are committed to continuing our efforts to provide seamless mobility to riders in 2020 and beyond," Singh said.
The cities with the highest number of Uber trips -- Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai -- were also the cities that hosted the highest number of Uber riders visiting India.
For India-registered Uber users travelling overseas, London, San Francisco and Doha reported the most rides.
November and December were the favourite months for Indians to leave their cars behind and use Uber with December 7 witnessing the maximum Uber rides in 2019.
