Govt committed to work for women safety: Kovind

President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday said that the government was committed to working towards women safety, adding that strict laws were also laid down against crimes of sexual abuse against children.

The President made the remarks in Parliament ahead of the Budget Session.

Kovind informed the House that over 600 one-stop centres were established to ensure women safety and a database to identify those who commit crimes against women has also been prepared.

"Over 1,000 special fast-track courts will be established to deliver speedy justice in the matters of crime against women. Women help desks will be expanded in all police stations across the nation," he said, adding: "The government has made provision for death sentence in the matters of sexual abuse of children."

Talking about women's health, President Kovind said that the government was committed to work towards it by giving direct benefit transfers in their bank accounts.

Around 90 lakh pregnant women and over three crore children have been vaccinated under mission 'Indradhanush'.

The NDA government 2.0 is all set to present its first budget on Saturday.
