No case of coronavirus in Kashmir, but spike in H1N1 nos
Srinagar, Feb 14
Kashmir has not yet seen any case of coronavirus but a spurt in swine flu (H1N1) numbers continues to pose a threat in the region.
Officials said as many as 18 cases of swine flu have been admitted to SKIMS, Srinagar.
"1,250 people were tested for H1N1 influenza at SKIIMS since September 2019. 18 have been admitted for treatment", Dr Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent of SKIMS, said.
He said the rising graph of swine flu cases has a direct connection with the drop in temperature.
"As temperatures drop, the possibility of swine flu cases increases" Jan said.
He said the hospital is fully equipped to deal with the H1N1 virus and has adequate number of vaccines, medicines, kits and protection gear.
