Trump's new ad featuring PM Narendra Modi gets it wrong
President Trump’s re-election campaign is out with a new ad featuring Indian PM Narendra Modi in which Trump claims that his presidency and policies will benefit Indian Americans -- but you and I know this couldn’t be further from the truth.
The Trump campaign is trying to use PM Modi to raise money from the Indian American community. They’ve been spreading false information and fake polling numbers to make it seem like Indian Americans are backing the president -- but this is completely wrong.
Here's my full statement on the new ad:
“From his hostility to immigrants to his stoking of racism and hate, Donald Trump is no friend of Indian Americans. He’s attacked hundreds of thousands of Indian families by decimating the H1B visa and green card processes. His failure to act quickly and based on science in the face of COVID has cost the lives of Indian Americans and endangered health care workers. Just last week he questioned whether a daughter of immigrants who was born in California was an American citizen. Donald Trump is the greatest threat to our communities and to future generations.â€
We know where our values lie. We stand for an inclusive America, one that’s welcome to immigrants, and one that wholly rejects Trump’s white supremacist vision for our country.
Now, for the first time in American history, we have an Indian American on the presidential ticket: Sen. Kamala Harris. We have the opportunity to send an Indian American to the White House.
