29th Oct ‘2020, An International online Press Conference was scheduled for the completion announcement and journey sharing for ‘Grey Stories’ an anthology stories webseries, which has been shot in USA and produced by NRILIFE Productions, owned by a NRI Producer/Bollywood film maker, Gunjan Kuthiala, with non film making background.
The agenda of press conference was to convey following:
a) Grey Stories Web series (combination of 4 films- Old Secrets, Void Space, Desires & Taboo) is an experiment project to break this myth that bold subjects need nudity. Producer/Writer- Gunjan Kuthiala (Professional Corporate HR from background) shared that Grey Stories are very bold, thought provoking relationship stories but have been shot in a very elegant, graceful & implied way as she believes digital audience isn’t always looking for soft porn. We want to convey a message that to entertain/show super engaging bold relatable subjects, we no longer need to incorporate nudity for the heck of it.
b) This is the 1st Bollywood set of films, that is created and produced by a NRI producer in US and the whole movie is shot in US.
c) The Grey Stories creation journey conveys the empowering message that where there is a will, universe carves its way and non-film background producers can create history too and we don’t need to hold our dreams with fear of nepotism as universe opens your dreams doors with your firm belief in the law of secrets. As in Press conference, they shared the journey of India born US film maker- Gunjan Kuthiala, who started her career In Indian news media who’s not from film background originally, worked in corporate HR in USA for decades before getting into her creative passion for writing & film making and moreover, her major core production team is from non film background too. Journey of lot of women production team, that too primarily NRIs (Non Resident Indians) with almost zero film background completed the webseries with good Bollywood cast and crew and are now getting top OTT platform offers, proves that with sheer passion, persistence and positivity dreams come alive! And ordinary people can achieve extra ordinary goals with togetherness and belief. Not only bold Grey Stories are entertaining for all age digital mass but message full too and the journey of its making seems to be super inspiring indeed.
Grey Stories Starcast includes but not limited to Jugal Hansraj (comeback), Sameer Soni, Hiten Tejwani, Kiku Sharda, Bhagyashree (comeback), Gaurav Gera, Sadiya Siddiqui, Raima Sen, Sameksha, Aditi Govitrikar, Javed Pathan, Gunjan Kuthiala, Olivia Malhotra, Kapil Arora, Vidhi Dalia & Soumya Dharmateja etc. Casting for the film has been done uniquely too as for eg. Audience will get to see Kiku Sharda (known for his comedy through kapil sharma show) in a romantic role in an unmatched couple’s story- Desires. Bhagyashree (who has been admired always as sweet ‘Maine Pyar kiya’ Suman) will be visible in an asexual relationship story in an extramarital relationship, Social Media Comedy king – Gaurav Gera who’s known for his many comedy characters like shopkeeper, chutki etc. will be seen in a Grey NRI Software Engineer, Beautiful Bengali Star Raima Sen in a bisexual confusion and our beloved ‘Banegi Apni Baat’ cutie- Sadiya Siddiqui as a lesbian. To summarize casting has been done to tickle/broaden the imagination of audience and with hope to entertain with extra spice.
Some of Grey Stories cast like Kiku Sharda, Gaurav Gera, Sadiya Siddiqui, Aditi Govitrikar, Samir Soni, Javed Pathan, Gunjan Kuthiala and Crew including Qaeed Kujweriwala (Director of one of the Grey Stories- Desires), Production team- Vidhi Dalia, Ambika Mangtani, Rohini Iris Pola, PR-Manreet Kwatra etc. were present at the press conference too. Press conference unveiled NRILIFE’s production house’s mission too, which is:
a) To create a platform which creates opportunities solely & purely on the basis of talent and no compromise whatsoever and
b) To bring authentic film making for NRIs in US as for most NRI’s it’s not feasible to quit everything and explore Mumbai/LA to pursue their creative aspirations.
Film’s shooting got completed just before the lockdown and hence, the post production of the film is at the verge of completion and the platform for the series is yet to be finalized/announced.Overall the cast/stories/Subject/treatment and journey makes Grey Stories intriguing indeed and we hope to see it on one of the Top OTT soon.
