Federation of Indian Associations, Chicago Hosts Glittering India’s Independence Day Gala

Chicago IL: The Federation of Indian Associations, Chicago (Original & Established in 1980) Hosted the 75th India’s Independence Day with Glittering Gala Banquet made memorable with traditional, patriotic and contemporary dance presentations depicting the majestic elements and the highlighting the Gala Celebration event at Fairfield Inn & Suite by Marriott at Schaumburg, IL on Friday August 13rd 2021.


A lamp lighting ceremony followed by Indian and American anthem was led by FIA Chicago’s Chair Trustee Shri Babubhai Patel President Rajesh Patel with Consul General Amit Kumar, Ms. Khushi Patel - Miss India USA Miss Popular 2021 & Miss India Florida for 2020-21, Harold D'Souza - Founder of Eye Open International (Non-profit organization). Major Satish Sharma, Major Dr. Rakesh Ashtana, Major Jasbir Singh Sehgal, Banquet Chair Iftekhar Shareef and also presented to all FIA Chicago trustees & Executive Committee.

Speakers at the gala made inspiring speeches. Chief guest Consul General Amit Kumar, U.S. Congress Raja Krishnamoorthi, Mayor of Lincolnwood Jesal Patel, to kick-off 75th India’s Independence celebrations.

Master Ceremony Jayesh Patel & emcee Prachi Jaitley welcomed dignitaries, Individuals and Business community present, thanked the FIA Chicago leadership team and saluted leading freedom fighters who lost their lives to bring India's freedom glory back.

FIA Chicago President Rajesh Patel started on a high note with the importance of Indian Independence and thanked all Chief guests, Dignitaries and shared community leader’s contribution in tough times like pandemic & natural calamities.

Consul general Amit Kumar noted the high points of India’s successful journey prior and since its independence and the rapid growth & impact on global platforms and shared about the direction of healthy Indo-US relationship. He recognized and presented awards to several community, business leaders and young talent too…

Sewa International : They helped more than $20 Millions for Covid in India

Mr. Amitabh Mittal : for His contribution to the Indian community under the umbrella of VHPA since 1987 & Hindu students Council and associated with all hindu Organizations in USA for the past three decades.

Chirayu Parikh (Past General Secretary - FIA Chicago: Active member of Shree Jalaram mandir and actively supporting toward greater causes, humanitarian activities etc with VHPA, HMEC, Akshaya Patra Foundation, EKAL Vidyalaya.

Executive Vice President of FIA Chicago Shri Hemant Patel presented the untold achievements and accomplishments of India and many hidden truths of history of India, which was really eye opener for many and it was one of the best parts of celebrations for current and generation to come…

Evening was full of tricolor themes with cultural dance presented by young kids and females in Indian tricolor costumes. It was the gala event as we were expecting around 250 people and the crowd was more than 330 as our invitation was limited due to current Covid pandemic circumstances and at the last moment we had to increase more than 10 tables to accommodate the crowd...

Fantastic Ideas FIA Executive committee concept held an India-theme decoration. The Gala ended with patriotic songs by Rajesh Chalam and Avni Singh with live music. Dinner was catered by Maharaja restaurant Rosemont. Media partners for the Gala included Desi Talk, Hello NRI, Indian Tribune, India post, Hi India, TV Asia, Asian Media, Divya Bhaskar and Indian Eye.
