Senator Anna M. Kaplan announced support from strong coalition of elected officials from across the region.

GLEN COVE, NY (August 15, 2022) - With only one week left until the August 23 Democratic primary election, New York State Senator Anna M. Kaplan (D-North Hills) announced that she’s earned endorsements from a strong coalition of elected officials from across the region.

The coalition includes State Senators, Assemblymembers, County, Town and Village officials, and elected municipal government leaders from the Nassau County region

Endorsements were announced at a rally with union leaders and members, and campaign supporters who had gathered to cheer on Senator Kaplan before hitting the streets to speak with voters

The coalition of elected officials includes State Senators, Assemblymembers, County, Town and Village officials, and elected municipal government leaders, and represents a groundswell of support around the sitting Senator in her primary campaign and her bid for re-election this fall. The announcement took place at a rally held to kick-off the 10 day early voting period, where many officials, union leaders and members, and campaign supporters had gathered to cheer on Senator Kaplan before hitting the streets to speak with voters.

Senator Anna M. Kaplan said “It takes a strong coalition to deliver for our community, and I’ve been proud to have great working relationships with partners in government at every level. I’m proud to be supported by such a broad group of State, County, and Local elected officials, and I’m grateful for their partnership as we fight for our residents and taxpayers across our community.”

Senator Jim Gaughran said “I have had the pleasure of working side by side with Anna on so many critical issues these past four years, and together, we have passed groundbreaking legislation from environmental protections to gun safety measures to codifying Roe v. Wade in New York. As she runs to represent much of the Nassau portion of my district, I could not be prouder to endorse her.”

Senator John Brooks said “Senator Anna Kaplan has been a major force in protecting women's right to choose, passing laws to take guns out of the hands of dangerous individuals, defending the right to vote in New York in light of restrictive measures taking hold nationwide, and so much more. At a time when we are facing so many challenges that attack the very core of our democratic system, we need experienced leaders like Anna to meet the urgency of this moment. Senator Kaplan has shown time and time again that she is up to the task. I wholeheartedly endorse her campaign for re-election and look forward to continuing to serve with her in the New York State Senate.”

Senator John Liu said “I have known Anna as an activist and elected official. She has long been a staunch advocate for the residents of North Hempstead and a true leader in our community. Her commitment to democratic values and proven record of success make her the obvious choice in this race. I wholeheartedly endorse her!”

Senator Kevin Thomas said “Senator Anna Kaplan is a phenomenal partner in Albany and a tremendous advocate for working families and small businesses here on Long Island. I enthusiastically endorse Senator Kaplan for re-election.”

Assemblymember Gina Sillitti said “Anna Kaplan has been a champion for Long Island in the State Senate. She is one of my closest partners in government and I am thrilled to endorse her re-election campaign. I look forward to continuing our work together delivering for our residents.”

Assemblymember Chuck Lavine said “Anna has proven to her constituents that they can rely on her for her staunch advocacy. She has further demonstrated to colleagues like myself, that through partnership and working together we can do more. Only with a strong ally in the Senate like Anna, could we have passed landmark legislation for New Yorkers. That's why I wholeheartedly endorse Anna Kaplan in her reelection for State Senate.”

Mayor of Port Washington North Bob Weitzner said “I fully endorse and support New York State Senator Anna Kaplan for this coming primary and her re-election in November.
