New City, NY (March 23, 2023) – Rockland County Legislature Vice Chairwoman Aney Paul sponsors a special presentation, Community Safety & Hate Crimes from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, in the Allison-Parris County Office Building, 11 New Hempstead Road in New City.
Mr. Sibu Nair, the New York State Deputy Director of Asian American Affairs, and Mr. Steven Nigrelli, the Acting Superintendent of the New York State Police, have agreed to make a public presentation on what’s being done to address this important issue.
“Across the nation, we have seen an increase in the number of bias-motivated incidents in recent years, including hate crimes against Asian Americans,” Legislator Paul said. “As a member of the Asian American community, it is my hope that, together, we can address the concerns so many are facing and find solutions.”
Legislator Paul extends an open invitation to anyone who may want to attend the presentation, which will include information about state programs and funding dedicated to preventing hate crimes and details about state Police recruitment efforts and hate crime investigators, as well as an opportunity to meet outreach officers.
