April 19 :
Rajpal Bath has been named Executive Director of the New Jersey-India Commission by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy.
The purpose of the newly formed Commission, which was established in February of this year, is to promote economic development in New Jersey and India through increasing bilateral trade and investment.

According to the official release, Bath has proved his mettle as a Senior Aide to Murphy by taking on difficult problems and building strong relationships. I am delighted to announce Raj as the first Executive Director of the New Jersey-India Commission. We worked closely while he was a senior assistant in my office, and I have worked with him since then. "Our state will surely benefit from his expertise in navigating complex issues and his dedication to serving our communities," Murphy stated.

According to Murphy, the newly formed commission will help to maintain the cultural and economic links between India and New Jersey, which will be beneficial for future generations, especially considering the increasing number of Indian Americans in the Garden State.

As the Secretary of State, Raj is well-suited to lead the Commission because of his "commitment to fostering collaboration and driving positive change," according to Lt. Governor Tahesha Way. "I look forward to working closely with him to advance the Commission's mission."

The New Jersey-India Commission was established in February 2024 by Executive Order No. 354, which was signed by Phil Murphy. In light of India's status as the world's most populated nation and one of the fastest-growing economies, the media statement added that the commission's goals include fostering educational and cultural interactions between the two states and fostering sustainable, long-term economic growth.

The appointment of Raj Bath as chairperson is a great honour for the New Jersey India Commission, according to chair Wes Mathews. "Under his guidance, we can strengthen our ties to the Indian community and foster greater opportunities for cultural exchange."

Bath attended Hofstra University and earned a BA in political science. New Jersey-India Commission Executive Director Raj Bath expressed his profound gratitude to Governor Murphy, Lt. Governor Way, and Chair Matthews for entrusting him with this significant duty. "I am committed to leveraging the Commission's platform to strengthen the bonds between New Jersey and India, and I look forward to serving our diverse communities," stated the governor.
