April 26 :
On April 25, Susheela Jayapal, a former commissioner of Multnomah County and a candidate for the United States House of Representatives from Oregon's third congressional district, produced two adverts. Listen to "Talk About It" and "Personal," two 30-second clips that showcase Jayapal's work as an advocate for progressive causes including abortion rights. In the first of several significant investments to reach the primary voters in her district, they will air on digital platforms and streaming television, according to a campaign spokesman.

In "Talk About It," Jayapal talks about how her decision to have an abortion when she was young affected her fight to defend abortion rights, her collaboration with a nearby Planned Parenthood to offer medication-assisted abortion, and her resolve to stop the Republican-led national abortion ban in her state.

"Personal" continues by explaining how Jayapal's parents' strong belief in service and equality, together with her own immigrant background, have influenced her support for progressive ideas such as Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, and effective solutions to the housing shortage.

of Coimbatore origin Jayapal, 61, is the older sister of Pramila Jayapal, 58, the first Indian American woman to serve in the United States House of Representatives. Some of her opponents in the May 21 primary include Gresham City Councillor Eddy Morales and Oregon state Rep. Maxine Dexter, who are also running on the Democratic ticket. Jayapal is anticipated to breeze through the general elections if she is elected, as the district is skewed heavily towards Democrats.
