Less than eight months after making history by winning the title, Miss Teen USA 2023 UmaSofia Srivastava is stepping down from her position. This comes just two days after Miss USA 2023 Noelia Voigt announced her own resignation. On Instagram on May 8, the youngster from New Jersey made her announcement, saying that her "personal values no longer fully align with the direction of the organisation," according to People magazine.

Resigning from the title of Miss Teen USA 2023 is a decision that I have made after months of struggling with it, she wrote. Since winning my state crown, I have had nothing except love and encouragement from my loved ones, the state directors, my sister queens, and the many fans who have come out to support me. Representing New Jersey at the national level as a first-generation Mexican-Indian American was an enriching experience in and of itself, and I will always cherish my memory as Miss NJ Teen USA.

Multilingual children's book author Srivastava has pledged to keep fighting for "education and acceptance" through her organisations, The Lotus Petal Foundation and the Bridge of Books Foundation. Her book, "The White Jaguar," serves as an example.

She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to work with remarkable nonprofits and witness the profound influence of her book, The White Jaguar, on both children and adults. She stated that these experiences have truly shaped her legacy. "This job has always been my actual mission in life." The Miss Teen USA organisation sent best wishes to the high school kid in an Instagram post shortly after Srivastava's post and announced the announcement of a new titleholder.
