Democratic National Convention Appoints Ashwin Ramaswami to Credentials Committee
June 11 :
Among those chosen to serve on the credentials committee of the 2024 Democratic National Convention (DNC)—set to be held in Chicago from Aug. 19-22—is Ashwin Ramaswami, a candidate for the Georgia state senate representing District 48. The credentials committee is one of three standing committees at the Convention that Biden and Harris appointed, and the Indian American is one of four Georgia appointees to it. The platform committee and the rules committee are the other two.
As a member of the credentials committee, Ramaswami will assist in resolving concerns over delegate seating and verifying that candidates for delegate and alternate positions have the necessary credentials to attend the convention.
Ramaswami expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to represent Georgians on a national stage. Electing the right leaders at every level and rejecting political extremism are two things I'm looking forward to doing this November.
In a statement, Ramaswami's campaign emphasised the importance of South Asian Americans and Gen Z leaders in the Georgia Democratic Party, praising their role in determining the party's future. The 24-year-old just received the Democratic Party's endorsement to run for the Senate seat in Georgia. In November, he'll take on Republican Shawn Still in an effort to win over a pivotal state senator.
