June 22 :
A man who had hoped for a better life in North America died of heat stroke while travelling through the Mexican desert, so security authorities are on high alert in the area near the US border. In the northern Mexican state of Chihuahua, where temperatures may reach above 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit), the body of a 45-year-old man was discovered buried under bushes and sand, subjected to the relentless sun. This discovery came one week after a lady died of dehydration.

The journey to the United States is already fraught with danger for Latin American migrants due to the treacherous river crossings, dangerous wildlife, and vicious criminal gangs that abduct, torture, and extort money from them.

Migrants who have been left out in the weather now face the added threat of heat. On June 20, the Mexican government announced that 155 people have died as a result of heat waves, 30 of those in just the last week.

A migrant from Venezuela named Dioner Jose Romero, who is 25 years old, complained that the temperature was too high and that he was becoming slightly dehydrated since it wouldn't go down from 43, 44, or 45 degrees.

While he was accustomed to hot weather, his fellow countryman Nelson Ramos complained that the sun is too strong. while speaking at a Catholic Church shelter in the border city of Ciudad Juarez. My breathing is getting a bit laboured.

According to the US Border Patrol, 77 individuals have been killed in the El Paso sector in Ciudad Juarez since October. This sector extends into other areas of Texas and New Mexico. Heat exhaustion, drowning, and falls from the border wall (some parts of which are nine metres high) are the leading causes of death.

Mauricio Rodriguez, Ciudad Juarez's head of emergency management services, told AFP that the reason people were instructed not to go to the border was because of the high temperatures. We advise against it, but I get that people feel pressured to do it. According to him, the heat is lethal.

The trafficker who had taken the Mexican guy to the US had left him when he was dying, but he came back to bury him in the desert. According to emergency personnel, the trafficker eventually consented to tell the family of the migrant where to find their loved one's body.

Mexican authorities discovered six additional unauthorised immigrants, including one showing signs of dehydration, during the search. The National Institute of Migration in Mexico reported that about 1.3 million unauthorised migrants traversed Mexican territory in the first five months of this year.
