Capitol Hill, July 3:
A New York State appellate court decided on Tuesday to disbar Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York, for his involvement in Donald Trump's attempts to influence the 2020 election. The long-awaited disbarment of Trump's most prominent lawyer, taking effect immediately, is a devastating setback for the former public official, who is already dealing with the ramifications from spreading false information about the 2020 election.

According to CNN, Giuliani is facing criminal charges, several lawsuits, and the loss of his legal license—which will be acknowledged nationwide. He is also in bankruptcy due to the USD 150 million in debt he incurred for defaming two election workers. "The gravity of (Giuliani's) wrongdoing cannot be exaggerated," the court concluded. (Giuliani) blatantly abused his prominent position as personal attorney for former President Trump and his campaign. In this role, he made false statements, some of which were harmful, to federal courts, state lawmakers, the public, the Attorney Grievance Committee, and this Court regarding the 2020 presidential election. By doing so, he attacked and undermined the credibility of our nation's electoral process.

Giuliani did more than just add fuel to the national fire; he willfully disregarded some of the most basic principles of the legal profession.
The court ruled that Giuliani "not only deliberately violated some of the most fundamental tenets of the legal profession, but he also actively contributed to the national strife that has followed the 2020 Presidential election, for which he is entirely unrepentant."

According to CNN, Giuliani was previously unable to practice law as the New York court deliberated attorney discipline proceedings involving him.
The court referenced the former Trump attorney's attempts to reverse election results in multiple states that are considered 2020 battlegrounds in its opinion.

In an interview with X, the ex-mayor of New York City stated that he was "not surprised" by the decision and attacked the system, calling it crooked. After multiple hearings, the court finally decided to disbar Giuliani on Tuesday, and a representative for the attorney voiced his disapproval.

"Anyone in the legal profession who believes in the American system of checks and balances need to rise up and denounce this ideologically and politically tainted ruling without delay. The spokesman, Ted Goodman, stated that they would be appealing this objectively faulty decision in the hopes that the appellate process will bring integrity back into our justice system. Among Trump's many plots to reverse the 2020 election results, Giuliani was instrumental.

Court documents from Tuesday state that Giuliani "falsely and dishonestly asserted to the public that people were brought from Camden, New Jersey, to vote illegally in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, during the 2020 presidential election." CNN reports that he was involved in alleged efforts to use fake electors to falsely certify Trump victories in states like Georgia and Arizona.

Georgia has also filed charges against Giuliani, including a RICO violation and multiple other offenses, such as courting lawmakers in the state, making false representations to lawmakers in the Georgia House and Senate, and attempting to produce telephone electors. He shares the same indictment as Trump and a number of other conspirators in that case.

Additionally, he is a co-conspirator in Trump's federal case involving election subversion and is currently facing charges in Arizona pertaining to the same. The problem is that Giuliani has entered not guilty pleas to every single accusation.
