Dr. Sushil Mathew Appointed Regional Superintendent of Middle East Region of the Gulf Countries by Church of God World Missions

In a significant development at the 79th International General Assembly of the Church of God held in Indianapolis, Dr. Sushil Mathew has been appointed as the Regional Superintendent of the newly created Middle East Region of the Gulf Countries. This new role marks a major step forward for the Church of God World Missions, which aims to enhance its outreach and ministry in the Gulf region.
Dr. Mathew has a long-standing history with the Church of God, having served as the National Overseer of Kuwait, Turkey, and Armenia from 2014 to 2024. His familiarity with the region and its unique challenges positions him well to lead and inspire a new vision and direction for the ministry in these countries.
In his new role, Dr. Mathew will collaborate closely with the seven National Overseers of the region. His primary focus will be on developing and strengthening leaders and existing churches, with an emphasis on missions. His extensive background and passion for mission work are expected to bring fresh perspectives and strategies to the Church of God's efforts in the Middle East.
Dr. Mathew's distinguished career includes service as a Major in the Indian Army before migrating to the USA in 1988. He pursued higher education, earning a Doctor of Business Administration degree, and held various progressive positions in both the public and private sectors. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Lee University in Cleveland, TN, Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK, and Patten University in California. Additionally, he serves as President of the Church of God Seminary in Kuwait and is a visiting professor at SEBIPCA in Guatemala, where he teaches various missions courses.
His extensive travels to over 70 countries and his work with the Unreached People Groups ministry reflect his deep commitment to global missions. His diverse background and experiences have equipped him with a unique blend of skills and knowledge that he brings to his ministry work.
Dr. Mathew resides in Rowlett, Texas, USA, with his wife, Gracy, the daughter of the late Pastor A.T. Thomas, a COG minister from India. They have two children, Alan and Sheryl, and a granddaughter, Eliana. As a family, they are deeply involved in the Church of God community and its mission work.
