July 25 :
The recent racist attacks against South Asian individuals in the US, Vice President Kamala Harris, Usha Vance, and others have been denounced by Ashwin Ramaswami, a candidate for the Georgia State Senate in District 48. The racist attacks against Hindu American Usha Vance and Sikh American Harmeet Dhillon at the GOP Convention, as well as reports of Republicans insulting Vice President Kamala Harris because of her race, are deeply troubling, according to Ramaswami, who stated in a statement.

The need of respecting one another's unique perspectives and distinctions is deeply ingrained in my own Dharmic traditions as a practicing Hindu American. He went on to say that this is the attitude he intends to promote in his district and across the country. After Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi denounced the racist response to Republican National Committeewoman Harmeet Dhillon's recital of the Sikh prayer 'ardas' at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Ramaswami has joined him in denouncing these racist attacks.

Ramaswami has a deep dedication to public service and activism; he was born in Johns Creek to immigrants. He would be the first senator from Generation Z to serve in Georgia and the only lawmaker with a background in computer technology if he were to win the election.

Meanwhile, incumbent Shawn Still is facing indictment in the upcoming race. For Democrats in Georgia, the best chance for a Senate seat pickup comes in District 48, the state's most competitive seat. In 2020, the district was split 48–52 in favor of Trump versus Biden, and in 2022, Warnock won by a 51–49 margin.

The 7th congressional district of Georgia is represented by Congresswoman Lucy McBath and Senator Jon Ossoff, both of whom have endorsed Ramaswami's campaign. Ramaswami also happens to be one of four Georgians on the DNC credentials committee for 2024.
