Washington, DC, July 25:
In light of President Joe Biden's recent Oval Office address, which marked a key moment in American politics, Former US President Barack Obama applauded Biden's service to the nation. After endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party's presidential contender in 2024 and announcing his departure from the campaign, Biden gave his first speech since then.

Looking back on Joe Biden's long tenure in public service, Obama made the observation that Biden had often remained true to his words throughout his life.

Biden was able to explain his choice and garner support for Harris as the nation's next leader at the Oval Office address, which is normally saved for times of national importance or policy pronouncements.

After a negative COVID-19 test, Joe Biden returned to the White House and cast the next election as a battleground between unity and division, optimism and despair. "I cherish this position, but my love for my nation surpasses it," Biden stated, restating his resolve to protect democracy and the welfare of the American people as a whole.

Biden framed the election as critical in determining the nation's course for the next several decades in his speech, in which he urged Americans to join together and acknowledge their common ideals. He urged people to put aside their differences and work together, expressing faith in the resilience of the American people and stressing the need to safeguard democratic values. Avoiding direct mention of Trump, Biden drew a comparison between his policies and those of Trump during his divisive presidency, stressing the need of protecting the legitimacy of democratic procedures.

The Democratic nominee for the 2018 US presidential election on November 5 will be Vice President Kamala Harris, thanks to Biden's endorsement. Although Harris has received enough delegates to be nominated and has strong support from party members, former US President Obama has not officially endorsed her.
