The United States State Department conveyed its condolences over the 160 lives lost in the devastating landslides in Wayanad, Kerala, on August 1st, according to a statement released in New Delhi. The Kerala Revenue Department said today that the death toll from the landslides that hit the hilly regions of Meppadi in Wayanad district on Tuesday due to persistent rainfall has risen to 167.

We are deeply grieved by the recent devastating landslides in Kerala's Wayanad District, which have left numerous people maimed or killed. Following the landslides in Wayanad, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu. The Russian Embassy in India published a post on X that read, "President of #Russia Vladimir Putin sent a condolence message to President of #India Droupadi Murmu & Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi over the tragic consequences of the landslides in #Kerala."
