Indian Diaspora Commemorates India's 78th Independence Day at Times Square

members of India's diaspora gathered in Times Square to commemorate the 78th anniversary of India's independence. There were a number of dance performances at the Times Square festivities set to Bollywood music from India. "Today, August 15, 1947, marked 77 years since India gained its independence from British colonial authority, as the nation celebrated its 78th Independence Day".
At Thursday's 78th Independence Day ceremony at the Red Fort in the nation's capital, Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised the national flag for the eleventh year in a row. 'Viksit Bharat @ 2047' is the topic of this year's Independence Day, with the goal of propelling the government's endeavors to elevate India to the status of a developed nation by 2047.
I-Day festivities at the Indian Embassy in the US were also attended by members of the Indian diaspora.
Vinay Mohan Kwatra, the Indian ambassador to the United States, raised the tricolour at India House in Washington, DC, as part of the Independence Day festivities. There were also guests from India and members of the Indian diaspora present for the occasion.
While this was going on, world leaders were wishing India well and reiterating their commitment to strengthening ties with New Delhi in the years to come. In his greetings and remarks, French President Emmanuel Macron joined other world leaders in expressing their joy at the event and their desire to collaborate with India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi to realize the lofty objectives of their strategic alliance.
"Congratulations to the Indian people on your 78th Independence Day!" Macron said beside a photo he shared on X.
Russian President Vladimir Putin sent warm congratulations to India and stated that Moscow values its privileged strategic partnership with New Delhi and plans to further ties with the country.
"Your country has achieved generally recognized success in the socio-economic, scientific-technical and many other spheres, and has earned high authority on the world stage," Putin said in a statement addressed to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in reference to India's 77 years of independent development.
