Kamala Harris Advocates for Gaza Ceasefire, Describes Suffering as "Heartbreaking"
Chicago, August 23:
At Friday's Democratic Party National Convention, US Vice President Kamala Harris discussed the Israel-Hamas conflict and stated that she and President Joe Biden were attempting to resolve the situation in Gaza. Harris stated that she will always make sure Israel can defend itself, that a ceasefire agreement must be reached soon, and that the "devastating" slaughter in Gaza is "heartbreaking."
The events of the last decade in Gaza have been absolutely catastrophic. There were a lot of needless deaths. Continually escaping from danger, people who are both desperate and starving. Harris expressed her deepest sorrow over the immense pain.
As she accepted her nomination on the evening of August 22, the last day of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, she stated, "President Biden and I are working around the clock, because now is the time to get a hostage deal and a ceasefire deal done." So said Hillary and Biden.
"And let me be clear: I will always stand up for Israel's right to defend itself, and I will always ensure Israel has the ability to defend itself, because the people of Israel must never again face the horror that a terrorist organization called Hamas caused on October 7, including unspeakable sexual violence, and the massacre of young people at a music festival," said Harris.
On a visit to Washington in July, Israel's prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with US president Joe Biden and vice president Kamala Harris.
The two leaders spoke on August 21 during a phone call, and the White House said that President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel covered a range of topics, including the United States' continued defensive military deployments and its active and ongoing efforts to support Israel's defense against all threats posed by Iran, including its proxy terrorist groups Hezbollah, Houthis, and Hamas.
As he addressed forthcoming discussions in Cairo to eliminate any lingering hurdles, Biden emphasized the critical nature of concluding the ceasefire and hostage release agreement. United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken informed Hamas that Israel had accepted a proposal from the Biden administration to resolve differences in the ceasefire discussions and urged them to do the same before continuing negotiations on August 19, following a meeting with Netanyahu in Jerusalem.
After discussions between Israeli negotiators and US, Qatari, and Egyptian mediator officials regarding a possible hostages-for-ceasefire arrangement, a "bridging proposal" was reached. Blinken and Netanyahu's administration then declared that Israel had accepted the US "bridging" offer.
The next president, Kamala Harris, promised to serve "all Americans" in her August 22 ceremonial acceptance address in Chicago. She also called the impending election the "most important in the life of our nation."
In addition, she said that she would reintroduce and sign the bipartisan border security bill. In addition to critiquing Trump on the subject of reproductive rights, Harris stated that she would sign the bill into law if elected president.
As soon as Congress approves a law to reinstate reproductive freedom, we will put our faith in women. To her credit, she promised to proudly sign the bill into law while serving as president of the US.
During the closing session of the 2024 Democratic National Convention, the 59-year-old Vice President spoke about her life experience, promising voters a "new way forward" following one of the most remarkable political comebacks in US history. Harris started her address by recounting her life story of growing up in California with her single mother, Shyamala Gopalan, who came to the United States from India when she was 19 years old.
"The path that led me here in recent weeks was no doubt unexpected," according to her. "But I'm no stranger to unlikely journeys," she pointed out.
She was brought up by a community of caregivers after a series of frequent moves when she was a child, eventually settling in the San Francisco area. Harris taught the audience the values instilled in her by her mother.
Former US President Donald Trump was branded by Harris as "an unserious man" and the "extremely serious" repercussions of re-electing him should be carefully considered by Americans.
She urged us to think about the influence he will have in light of the recent ruling by the US Supreme Court that he would be free from criminal prosecution. According to Harris, if Donald Trump were unchecked, he would utilize the vast powers of the presidency to enrich himself at the expense of ordinary citizens and undermine national security. "On behalf of everyone whose story could only be written in the greatest nation on Earth, I accept your nomination to be the President of the United States of America," Harris stated during the convention of the DNC.
