US Presidential Elections: Trump Appoints Robert F. Kennedy and Tulsi Gabbard to Transition Team
Washington DC,August 28 :
Donald Trump, a former US president and Republican contender for president, has appointed Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard to his transition committee. This group would assist Trump in staff selection and policy development in the event that he seeks a second term in office.
In a statement, Trump campaign senior advisor Brian Hughes expressed his pride at the addition of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard to the Trump/Vance Transition team, adding to President Trump's broad network of friends and endorsers that is expanding across partisan lines. "We look forward to having their powerful voices on the team [as] we work to restore America's greatness," said Hughes.
In the past few days, Trump has received the endorsements of Robert Kennedy Jr., who withdrew from the presidential race, and Tulsi Gabbard, a former Democratic lawmaker from Hawaii.
Following her own 2020 presidential campaign, Gabbard severed ties with the Democratic Party, and Trump had already targeted Kennedy with his trademark name-calling.
For the last twenty years, environmental lawyer Edward Kennedy has been a vocal critic of vaccine mandates, spreading the myth that vaccines given to children cause autism and railing against what he terms the pharmaceutical industry's "corporate capture" of the American government.
The New York Times stated that on August 24, Kennedy Jr. withdrew his endorsement of former president Donald Trump and halted his presidential candidacy. During a speech he gave in Phoenix, he revealed his intentions, stating that he was removing his name from the ballot in states that were considered to be in the race. Abetting "continued legal warfare" and "abandoning democracy" were his accusations against the Democratic Party and Trump, he said.
According to The Hill, former US representative Tulsi Gabbard—who resigned from the Democratic Party in 2022—has endorsed former president Donald Trump for the forthcoming November presidential election.
"This administration has us facing multiple wars on multiple fronts in regions around the world, and closer to the brink of nuclear war than we ever have been before," warned Gabbard.
"This is one of the main reasons why I am committed to doing all that I can to send President Trump back to the White House, where he can once again serve us as our commander-in-chief," said the senator.
It should be noted that Gabbard's 2020 presidential bid in the Democratic primary was unsuccessful. She reportedly abandoned the Democratic Party and Congress after her campaign ended, and she made appearances at gatherings like the Conservative Political Action Conference.
