Raj Salwan Endorsed by Congressman Ro Khanna for Mayor of Fremont, California
September 2 :
An endorsement of Raj Salwan's campaign for mayor of Fremont, California, by Congressman Ro Khanna—who represents California's 17th District—highlights a longtime personal and business relationship between the two men. According to Khanna, although he has known Raj Salwan for more than 20 years, Fremont has known him for his entire life. He has a long history of dedicated volunteerism in the community, and he is truly here to serve now that he is in government. I am completely behind him.
Present municipal council member Raj Salwan thanked Khanna for endorsing him. "I am proud to receive the endorsement of Congressman Ro Khanna for my campaign for Fremont Mayor," Salwan said. "Our work together on Fremont's public WiFi, homeless navigation center, and transportation funding has been a boost to Fremont's infrastructure for many years to come."
For more than ten years, beginning with his 2013 appointment to the Fremont City Council, Salwan—a licensed veterinarian—has been an integral part of that body. A native Fremont resident, the candidate has held the positions of vice mayor twice and has been a member of the planning commission and human relations commission in his hometown.
City councilman Vinnie Bacon is running against him for mayor. Salwan's campaign highlights his history of successful leadership, highlighting his work to improve public safety, alleviate traffic congestion, invest in infrastructure, and raise the quality of life for Fremont citizens.
A campaign statement for Fremont may be found here. If elected, Raj Salwan will manage the city in a collaborative manner with the help of the city council, achieving more for the benefit of Fremont homeowners. Politicians who make a living saying and tweeting about things don't actually do anything to make them happen. They shun the arduous process of formulating policies and working together to achieve their goals. According to Salwan's statement launching his run, he promised to "roll up my sleeves" and work hard for the citizens of Fremont.
