SpaceX's Starlink to Comply with Brazil's X Blockade, Says Elon Musk
Texas, September 4,:
In response to a recent Supreme Court judgment prohibiting Elon Musk's social media platform X in Brazil, Starlink, a satellite internet service provided by Elon Musk's SpaceX, has announced that it will block the platform. "The Starlink team is doing everything possible to keep you connected," the business wrote on September 3 on X.
"Regardless of the illegal treatment of Starlink in freezing of our assets, we are complying with the order to block access to X in Brazil," a statement from the business read. "We continue to pursue all legal avenues, as are others who agree that @alexandre's recent orders violate the Brazilian constitution," Stalink wrote on Facebook.
The financial transactions of Starlink were frozen at the direction of Judge Alexandre de Moraes of Brazil's Supreme Court. A unanimous decision was reached by Brazil's highest court on September 2 to maintain the ban on Musk's social media site X.
In response to what it deemed as the "illegality" of the order, the firm had begun legal actions.
After Musk's company failed to designate a representative in the South American country by the court-imposed deadline, Justice Alexandre de Moraes issued the ban.
Speaking to CNN Brasil on Monday, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva expressed his satisfaction with the judgment of the Supreme Court panel, calling it a message. On August 29, Moraes threatened Elon Musk with a statewide suspension of his social media network X unless the billionaire appointed a local attorney to defend X within 24 hours.
