Rahul Gandhi Criticizes BJP, Says Party Prioritizes Nagpur-Based Ideology Over National Unity
September 10:
In a subtle jab at the Bharatiya Janata Party—and by extension, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)—Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that the ruling party fails to grasp the fact that the nation belongs to all its citizens, while the RSS, with its headquarters in Nagpur, prioritizes just one ideology.
In an effort to emphasize the diversity of India, the Congress leader used the analogy of a food plate when interacting with members of the Indian diaspora at an event in Herndon, Virginia. According to the LoP, India is indeed a "union of states," which signifies a merging of many cultural heritages and historical periods.
"Everything in India is interdependent. What would happen if someone sat down at Thali and prioritized chawal (rice) over Dal (pulses) and sabji (vegetable) was the least important?" If you want to know what the BJP does, ask Rahul Gandhi.
This country is everyone's...India is a union, and the BJP doesn't get it. India (or Bharat) is a union state, as stated explicitly in the Constitution. It denotes a coming together of many cultures, languages, traditions, histories, musical styles, and dance forms—though the BJP maintains that it is not a union but rather something distinct. There is just one major philosophy, and its headquarters are located in Nagpur. According to him, that's the crux of the matter.
Rahul Gandhi went on to say that the RSS holds the view that some communities and states are less important than others.
According to the RSS, some nations, languages, faiths, and communities are better than others. This is the crux of the matter. We think that... every one of you has your own unique culture, language, and history. Each and every one of them is crucial in its own way. If someone informed you that Tamil is not your native language, how would you react? Describe your emotions. Describe your reaction. "That Tamil, Marathi, Bengali, and Manipuri are all inferior languages—that is the ideology of the RSS," he stated.
It all comes to the voting booth, the Lok Sabha, and the Vidhan Sabha, according to the Congress leader. This conflict, however, centers on the question of the future of India. Who knows? Maybe one day India will be a place where everyone can believe whatever they wish. Or else India would become a place where very few people have any say in the matter.
For three days, Rahul Gandhi will be in the United States. His speech in Dallas hailed the Indian diaspora in the United States as a "vital bridge" connecting two countries and praised the city for giving him a "fantastic start" to his tour of the United States.
Gandhi visited the University of Texas in Dallas on Sunday and spoke with faculty and students. He spoke to the Indian diaspora in Dallas as well. Also, he went to the nation's capital.
