Houston, US September 18:
In Houston, during GasTech 2024, US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Geoffery Pyatt met with Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri. After going over the current energy cooperation, the two heads of state decided to look into methods to fortify bilateral cooperation all the way across the energy value chain in order to ensure a "just and orderly energy transition."

Puri and Pyatt spoke about the ways in which US and Indian institutions and businesses are working together to boost energy cooperation during their meeting.

Hardeep Singh Puri shared information of his encounter with Geoffery Pyatt, writing, "Met my friend for more than three decades & US @AsstSecENR Mr Geoffery Pyatt at #GasTech2024 in Houston today."

In order to ensure a fair and orderly energy transition, we discussed the current energy cooperation and decided to look into methods to enhance bilateral cooperation throughout the energy value chain. Additionally, he mentioned how the cooperation in the energy sector is growing and improving as a result of the great work being done by institutions and firms on both sides.

During his visit to the US, Hardeep Singh Puri opened the India Pavilion at GasTech. He made a point of saying that the Indian companies at GasTech show off their cutting-edge tech, skills, and potential for future partnerships and investments.

Puri said on X, "Delighted to inaugurate the India Pavilion which marks a strong presence of India's energy sector entities at @GastechEvent, the world's largest event for the natural gas, LNG, hydrogen, low-carbon solutions, and climate technology industry in Houston."

"As India moves towards energy independence under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,

Ji, a lot of Indian companies are showing off their cutting-edge tech, skills, and potential future partnerships and investments at the flagship event.

In addition to Ministers Badawi of Egypt, Ekperikpe Ekpo of Nigeria, Bayraktar of Turkey, and Pyatt of the United States, the Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas was a member of a ministerial panel at GasTech 2024.

He warned that a more catastrophic energy situation might have ensued if India hadn't taken the initiative. According to his projections, India's energy consumption will increase at a CAGR of roughly 3% between now and 2040, and then more than double by 2050.

"Excited to be a part of a Ministerial Panel with fellow Egyptian ministers, HE," Puri wrote in an X post. In a session on "From mitigation to adaptation: Navigating volatile geopolitics in a fragmenting global order" moderated by Prof. John Defterios, @NYUAbuDhabi, at @GastechEvent, the world's largest event for the natural gas, LNG, hydrogen, low-carbon solutions, and climate technology industry in Houston, Karim Badawi, the Rt Hon Ekperikpe Ekpo of Nigeria, HE Alparslan Bayraktar of Turkey, and @AsstSecENR Mr. Geoffrey Pyatt of the United States, are all speaking. I mentioned that developing economies are changing the face of energy worldwide, and that by 2045, they would be responsible for almost 80% of the projected rise in energy consumption.

Massive investments in renewable and traditional energy sources are being propelled by this increase in demand. The global energy situation may have been far worse if India hadn't taken the initiative. A staggering 67 million people fill up their gas tanks daily in India, which is home to the world's fastest-growing major economy and a crude oil consumption of almost 5 million barrels per day. By 2040, India's energy demand is predicted to increase at a CAGR of approximately 3%, and by 2050, it is projected to have doubled. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji, India has taken a balanced and pragmatic strategy that prioritizes climate obligations while protecting national interests, he noted.

"We have taken several measures to enhance domestic production, diversify the supplies, and accelerate adoption of low carbon solutions like biofuels, EVs & Hydrogen," Puri continued in an X post that highlighted India's efforts to boost domestic output. Partnerships on a worldwide scale can speed up the implementation of renewable energy, as shown by our projects like the International Solar Alliance (ISA) and the worldwide Biofuels Alliance (GBA).

Hardeep Singh Puri and US Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm attended the Strategic Clean Energy Partnership (SCEP) Ministerial earlier on Monday. At the meeting, they lauded the partnership's efforts to promote clean energy innovation, enhance energy security, and quicken the transition to clean energy.

Meeting in Washington, DC, on Monday, the two sides discussed the efforts made in the areas of Power and Energy Efficiency, Responsible Oil and Gas, Renewable Energy, Emerging Fuels and Technologies, and Sustainable Growth, which are the technical pillars of the SCEP.

"The ministers welcomed progress made under the partnership to drive clean energy innovation, strengthen energy security, and accelerate clean energy transitions, including through more focused efforts on clean energy manufacturing and building resilient, responsible, stable, secure and diversified supply chains," according to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
