Kamala Harris Contacts Trump After Florida Assassination Attempt, Expresses Relief at His Safety

The White House has confirmed that US Vice President Kamala Harris expressed her "grateful"ness that former US President Donald Trump was safe during a Tuesday telephone chat with Trump. Officials from both the White House and the other leader described the meeting as "cordial and brief." The two heads of state met the day after reports of gunshots near Trump's West Palm Beach, Florida, golf club surfaced.

A spokesperson for the ex-president said he was "safe." On Sunday, the FBI made an announcement, saying that it "is investigating what appears to be an attempted assassination."

The White House released a statement stating that Vice President Harris had spoken with former President Trump personally this afternoon to convey her gratitude that he is safe. The chat was friendly and short.

According to CNN, the man wanted for the attempted murder of former US President Donald Trump, Ryan Wesley Routh, has been indicted on two counts of criminal offense.

One of the allegations is having a firearm while a convicted criminal, and the other is having a firearm with its serial number erased. September 30 is the date of the arraignment, and September 23 is the date of the detention hearing. While awaiting trial, Routh will stay in jail.

In the course of his presidential campaign, Trump has been the target of two attempted assassinations. While campaigning in Butler, Pennsylvania, former US President Donald Trump was also the subject of an attempted assassination attempt.

Following reports of gunshots near Donald Trump's Florida golf course earlier on Sunday (local time), Kamala Harris expressed her relief that the president is safe.

U.S. President Joe Biden expressed relief that his predecessor was unharmed earlier on Sunday and emphasized that violence, whether political or otherwise, had no place in the nation.

For their "vigilance" in keeping the'safe' former president, Biden lauded the Secret Service. He went on to say that an investigation is currently underway and that one suspect has been taken into custody.

According to a statement that Biden made on X, federal law enforcement has informed him about what they are looking into as a potential attempt on the life of former President Trump. The former president and others around him were kept safe thanks to the diligent work of the Secret Service and its law enforcement colleagues. A suspect has been taken into custody.

In order to guarantee that Donald Trump remains secure, the US President has ordered his team to keep making sure that the Secret Service has all the tools and protection it needs.

The White House released a statement in which Biden expressed relief that the former president was unharmed. As authorities collect additional information regarding the incident, an intensive investigation is underway.

"As I have said many times, there is no place for political violence or for any violence ever in our country, and I have directed my team to continue to ensure that Secret Service has every resource, capability and protective measure necessary to ensure the former President's continued safety," said he.
