No Ocean Can Distance You from India: PM Modi Tells Indian Diaspora in US
New York, September 23 :
Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the indispensable role of the Indian diaspora in the relationship between India and the United States, as well as the inseparable link between India and its people worldwide.
“You have connected India with America and America with India,” he stated, addressing the Indian diaspora at the Modi&US Event at Nassau Coliseum in New York, Long Island. You are unparalleled in your ability, aptitude, and dedication. There is no ocean that can separate you from India, even while you are overseas.
According to Prime Minister Modi, he has long recognized the value of India's diaspora, whom he refers to as "Rahstradoot" because of their role as powerful representatives of the Indian brand abroad.
Even Apna Namaste has expanded internationally now. It was all on you, and now it's gone global. "Any Indian who truly cares about India has done this," Prime Minister Modi said.
He went on to say how proud he was of the Indian people for continuing the belief that "the world is one family" (Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam).
During my time as prime minister, I have been showered with your boundless love and devotion. We make friends everywhere we go and treat everyone like family. Embracing diversity, making it a part of our life, and understanding its significance... it is something we hold dear. Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Punjabi, Marathi, Gujarati, and a few more are all spoken here. According to Prime Minister Modi, "there is a feeling, and that feeling is Indianness." That feeling is distinct from language.
The prime minister reminisced about his youth and expressed his desire to reconnect with members of the Indian diaspora while praising them.
"I am fortunate to have you as a lover. Look back on the times when I wasn't even a leader, let alone the prime minister, chief minister, or even a leader at all. Back then, I would only visit here out of curiosity. I had already been to around 29 states in the US before I was unemployed. "The process of connecting with you through technology continued after I became CM," PM Modi stated.
"We are residents of a country where there are hundreds of languages and dialects, all the religions and sects of the world," Prime Minister Modi remarked, highlighting India's variety. We are still forging ahead as a united and honorable front. We can connect with the world through this, our biggest strength. The world is bound to us by these principles.
Additionally, Prime Minister Modi sent his deepest appreciation to US President Joe Biden for the gracious hospitality he extended during his visit to Biden's home in Delaware, saying that it "touched my heart."
The Indian diaspora, you have my deepest respect. The Indian community is universally lauded by world leaders, no matter where I go. The openness and friendliness shown to me by President Biden yesterday at his house in Delaware was deeply moving. Your success and the success of the millions of Indians who live here share this honour, which belongs to the 1.4 billion people who call India home. Prime Minister Modi thanked President Biden and everyone present.
Additionally, Prime Minister Modi addressed the general elections that took place in India earlier this year, remarking that "the recent elections in India were the largest in human history."
The year 2024 is pivotal for humanity as a whole. A number of nations are at odds with one another. But democracy is celebrated in other nations. In this joyous occasion of democracy, the United States and India stand side by side. Elections have already taken place in India, and those in the United States will soon take place. So yet, no election has been larger than the ones held in India. The voting populace in India is two times that of the United States, Prime Minister Modi boasted.
As Prime Minister Modi stepped onto the stage, the diaspora throng erupted in a standing ovation. As Prime Minister Modi was about to address the Indian diaspora in the United States, a number of gifted Indian performers joined the stage to set the mood.
An historic event took place in the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York, when fifteen thousand members of the Indian diaspora came together from forty-two states to greet Prime Minister Modi. The event was part of the "Modi and US" program.
Members of various ensembles had been practicing traditional music for days in anticipation of the prime minister's arrival and the big performance.
The Nassau Coliseum was the site of a breathtaking event. The prime minister of India, Narendra Modi, spoke to Indian Americans. The Indian diaspora in the United States welcomed the prime minister with open arms and great enthusiasm. The prime minister emphasized India's commitment to being a developed nation by 2047 and the significant contribution of the Indian diaspora in strengthening our bilateral relations with the United States, according to Randhir Jaiswal, spokesman for the Ministry of External Affairs.
In addition to attending a CEO Roundtable later today, Prime Minister Modi will preside over important bilateral discussions in New York. As for the Summit of the Future, he'll be speaking there on September 23 as well.
