Trump Vows to Prosecute Google if Elected, Accuses Company of Bias in News Coverage
Washington, DC September 28 :
The Republican presidential nominee, and former US president, Donald Trump, stated on September 27 that he would pursue legal action against Google in the event that he is elected on November 5, asserting that the tech giant exclusively presents "bad stories" regarding him.
Trump failed to provide any proof in his Truth Social post to back up his claim against Google. Donald J. Trump alleged that Google had been found to have utilized an illegal technique to display only negative items about him, some of which had been made up, while positive stories about Democratic presidential contender Kamala Harris were displayed.
A criminal prosecution for this egregious involvement with elections is something the Justice Department should pursue, according to Trump, who added that this was an unlawful act. If that is not the case, then as soon as I am president of the United States, I will seek their prosecution at the highest level permissible by our laws.
A request for comment did not immediately receive a response from Google. The Washington Post reports that in 2019, Trump made a comparable assertion regarding Google. The Post reports that during the 2016 presidential campaign, he claimed in a series of tweets on his now-defunct account that Google had a bias toward unfavorable coverage of him. At that moment, Google denied the allegations.
Some ex-presidential backers, however, have revived the claims in the past few weeks. Billionaire Elon Musk accuses Google of having a search block on the former president in a July post on X, just days after an attempted assassination of Trump.
