President Biden Confirms Ongoing Discussions on Potential Strikes Targeting Iranian Oil Facilities
Washington, DC, Oct. 4:
An American official said on Thursday that US President Joe Biden is "in discussion" regarding the possibility of attacking Iranian oil facilities. While addressing reporters at the White House, Biden said, "We're in discussion of that." This was in response to a question on whether he would back Israel's strike on Iran's oil facilities. In any case, I believe that to be a bit.
After Biden allegedly told US and Israeli officials that Israel would attack Iranian oil installations, the Washington Post reported that oil prices surged.
A question was posed to Biden later on regarding his stance on Israel's ability to respond to Iran's aggression before he boarded Air Force One to visit Florida and Georgia to assess the hurricane's devastation.
Biden reportedly stated, "First of all, we don't allow Israel," in a statement released by the White House. The Israeli government is our client. Plus, today will be a complete bust. We can address that at a later time.
Israeli attacks on Iranian nuclear sites would not have Biden's approval, as he had already said the day before. "The answer is no," Biden had informed reporters on Wednesday in response to this question.
"We'll be discussing with the Israelis what they're going to do," he continued, keeping in line with the G7 consensus that Israel has "a right to respond, but they should respond in proportion."
It was also brought up that he had convened a summit of the G7 nations, and that they were currently drafting a common statement.
Iranian policy has clearly veered far off course. A united statement is being prepared by us. Nothing is finalized just yet. We should be able to land before it's finished. Additionally, Biden informed reporters that penalties will be applied to Iran.
Even Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Biden will have a conversation "relatively soon," according to Biden. After Iran attacked Israel directly with over 200 rockets on October 1, Netanyahu warned of the repercussions Tehran will suffer.
