October 5 :
Obama will hold an event in Pittsburgh next week to mobilize supporters in key swing states for Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris, who is running on the platform of former US president Barack Obama. After President Joe Biden resigned as the Democratic candidate due to his dismal performance in the party's debate against Republican Donald Trump, Harris assumed the role of standard bearer. Obama delivered a well-received speech in support of Harris at the August Democratic National Convention and has since served as an informal advisor to her.

An official from Obama's team stated on October 4 that in the last month leading up to Election Day, the president will visit the key battleground states. In states where the margins for victory are very tight, the campaign is likely to rely on turnout from base supporters, and the former president is popular with that group. He is also seen as an effective closer.

"President Obama believes the stakes of this election could not be more consequential and that is why he is doing everything he can to help elect Vice President Harris, Governor Walz and Democrats across the country," Eric Schultz, a top Obama adviser, said. A return to the House of Representatives, maintenance of the United States Senate, and victory in the White House are his objectives. Voting has started, so now we need to convince and mobilize voters, particularly in states where there are close contests. We shouldn't assume anything because many of these races will be quite close.

The presidential campaign has received $76 million in donations and proceeds from Obama-themed events, according to Obama's campaign staff. Last month in Los Angeles, Obama was the featured speaker at a $4 million fundraiser for Harris. Obama has also made repeated appearances in advertising for Harris's campaign The president will begin his campaign on October 10 with a visit to Pittsburgh.
In July, Obama and Michelle endorsed Kamala Harris's presidential campaign.
