The government takes charge to keep the Maniyar Hydroelectric Project under the control of a private company. The move comes despite strong opposition from KSEB. The file regarding the extension of the contract for 25 years indicates a favorable decision for the Carborundum Universal company. There is significant pressure on the government to extend the contract set to expire on December 30, 2024. In 1990, the government granted permission to Carborundum Universal Company to implement the Maniyar Hydroelectric Project. he agreement stipulated that electricity generated from the 12 MW capacity project would be utilized for the company's industrial needs, with the surplus to be provided to KSEB. There has been significant pressure on the Industries and Energy Departments to extend the contract for several months now. KSEB has repeatedly expressed its opposition to the government regarding the extension of the contract for Carborundum.
