Crucial moves in the NCP; Minister A.K. Shashindran's resignation may happen today.
The leadership's final directive is for A.K. Shashindran to resign from the ministerial position on his own. Yesterday, a leadership meeting of the NCP was held in Kochi under the leadership of State President P.C. Chacko. In the meeting attended by around 200 people, Forest Minister A.K. Shashindran was publicly asked to resign on his own. It was made clear in the meeting that otherwise, there would be a situation where he would have to be removed.
However, A.K. Shashindran clarified that he has no hesitation in following the party's decision and is ready to resign from his ministerial position. However, although Shashindran requested in the meeting that he be given the position of State President if he resigns from the ministerial post, P.C. Chacko did not provide a clear response to this in the meeting. P.C. Chacko and Thomas K. Thomas will hold discussions with Sharad Pawar tomorrow regarding the NCP's ministerial position. The move is to exert pressure on the Chief Minister through Sharad Pawar.
