The unknown disease terrified the residents of Rajori; eight deaths in nine days.
In Bathal village of Kothramk taluk, eight people from two families lost their lives in nine days. An unknown disease is spreading across the entire Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, instilling fear among the people. National media reports say that seven of the deceased were under the age of fourteen. On Wednesday, after 12-year-old Ashfaq Ahmed succumbed to the disease, a team of experts from the center was formed to investigate the disease and its cause.
Ashfaq died after six days of treatment at the Government Medical College in Jammu. Last Thursday, Ashfaq's siblings, Ishtiyaq (7) and Nasia (5), also died due to the unknown disease. In addition to them, a man and his five children also died due to the unknown disease. The news agency PTI reported that a Biosafety Level-3 (BSL) mobile laboratory has been sent to Rajouri for investigations.
