Different rates for online taxis when booked on Android and iPhone? Central government launches inquiry

In preliminary observations, the Union Minister pointed out that this is an unfair practice and emphasized that there will be no compromise on consumer exploitation. Prahlad Joshi's response regarding the news of charging different rates from Android and iPhone users came through X.
The investigation will not be limited to online taxis alone . The minister has also directed to investigate whether such differential pricing is being charged by food delivery apps and ticket booking apps. Many people are coming forward on social media pointing out such experiences . However, Uber's response is that they do not have a policy of determining fare based on the phone used . They say that the fare may vary based on factors such as the time of booking, distance, and the real-time demand for cabs in a specific area.
