New Year brings a new railway timetable; speed of the Malabar Express increased by 30 minutes

The new railway timetable in Kerala will come into effect tomorrow. The speed of the Mangaluru-Thiruvananthapuram Malabar Express will be increased by 30 minutes as part of the changes. The train will now reach Ernakulam at 3:10 AM, Kollam at 6:25 AM, and Thiruvananthapuram at 8:30 AM. Currently, the train arrives at 9:00 AM.

The Chennai-Guruvayur Express will be 35 minutes faster. Instead of 9:45 AM, it will depart from Chennai at 10:20 AM. The Thiruvananthapuram–Shoranur Venad Express will depart at 5:20 AM instead of 5:25 AM starting tomorrow. The Shoranur–Thiruvananthapuram Venad Express will arrive a few minutes earlier at stations between Ettumanoor and Thiruvananthapuram Pettah.

The Thoothukudi–Palakkad Palaruvi Express has also undergone a schedule change. It will now depart from Kollam at 4:35 AM instead of 4:50 AM. The train will arrive earlier at stations between Tirunelveli and Ernakulam North. The Thiruvananthapuram–Mangaluru Ernad Express will depart from Thiruvananthapuram at 3:40 PM instead of 3:35 PM. The Kollam–Thiruvananthapuram Passenger, previously scheduled at 6:50 AM, will now depart at 6:58 AM.

The Ernakulam–Thiruvananthapuram Vanchinad Express will depart at 5:10 PM instead of 5:05 PM. The Kochuveli–Nagercoil Passenger will depart at 1:25 PM instead of 1:40 PM. The Madurai–Guruvayur Express and Kottayam–Nilambur Express will be 15 minutes faster, while the Mangaluru–Kannur Passenger will be 40 minutes faster. The Kollam–Chennai Ananthapuri Express and Ernakulam–Bilaspur Express will increase speed by 15 minutes and 10 minutes, respectively. The Thiruvananthapuram North–Yesvantpur AC Weekly Superfast train will be upgraded to an Express service.
