Alcohol consumption can cause seven types of cancer; warning should be issued, says U.S. Surgeon General.

U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy has issued a warning that alcohol consumption increases the risk of seven types of cancer, including liver, breast, and throat cancer. He emphasized the need to include cancer warning labels on alcohol bottles. According to a U.S. report, alcohol has been a major cause of cancer cases and deaths over the past decade. The report highlights that the more alcohol a person consumes, the higher their risk of developing cancer.

The American public is not fully aware of the risks associated with alcohol consumption, and they need to understand how much health damage alcohol can cause. Just as warning labels about birth defects are placed on alcohol bottles for pregnant women, cancer warnings should also be included. Vivek Murthy conveyed this message through X (formerly Twitter).
