Two cases of HMPV have been detected in infants, confirmed the Union Ministry of Health.

HMPV (Human Metapneumovirus) infection was detected in two infants aged three months and eight months. Both cases were confirmed in Bengaluru. The information was shared by the Union Ministry of Health. The three-month-old baby has been discharged from the hospital. The eight-month-old baby is recovering, officials stated. The Ministry of Health informed that the HMPV cases were identified through routine surveillance by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Meanwhile, the Union Ministry of Health and the Directorate General of Health Services had earlier clarified that there is no need for concern regarding the rapid spread of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) in China. Authorities stated that it is merely a common respiratory issue that causes cold-like symptoms.
