Delhi Braves Chill for Fit India Sundays on Cycle:; Wrestler Sangram Singh Leads the Pack

Jan 6, New Delhi:
The chill in the air couldn't deter the spirit of fitness as over 300 cycling enthusiasts gathered at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium on Sunday morning. The nationwide Fit India Sundays on Cycle campaign continued in full swing in the first Sunday of the new year 2025, with a renewed vigour of promoting a healthier and greener India.

Leading the pack at the national capital was renowned wrestler, former Bigg Boss contestant and MMA Champion Sangram Singh. The cyclists, which included jawans from the Indian Army, jointly promoted awareness around the need to stay fit, to take up cycling as a solution to Delhi's pollution and to say no to drugs.

Sangram, also a Fit India Icon, joined forces with a contingent of Indian Army jawans to inspire the crowd. "I've been closely associated with the Fit India movement since 2021," he said. "When I learned that the Army jawans would be participating, I knew I had to be a part of this incredible show of unity and fitness. It is a great honour for me to ride along with them.”

Speaking about the initiative launched by Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya last month, Sangram added, “This is a great initiative by the government to imbibe a culture of fitness in the country because only fit citizens can build a strong country. I have always believed that health is the only wealth and we must all spend least half an hour every day in fitness activities."

The diverse group of cyclists embarked on an invigorating ride from the stadium to Vijay Chowk, traversing the majestic Kartavya Path. The route offered breathtaking views of Delhi's iconic landmarks, adding a touch of sightseeing to the fitness endeavor. A brief stop at India Gate provided a moment for camaraderie and photo opportunities. The air was filled with cheers of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" as participants exchanged smiles and high-fives.

This initiative, spearheaded by Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, is gaining significant momentum across the nation. Dr. Mandaviya himself was part of an event in Gandhinagar on Sunday where more than
2000 cyclists joined him.
