Rijith's murder; Sentence after 19 years, life imprisonment for all the accused.

In the case of the stabbing murder of CPM activist Rijith, all the accused have been sentenced to life imprisonment. The sentence was passed after 19 years. A total of 10 accused were involved in the case. One of them had died in a road accident. The Thalassery Additional Sessions Court-3 sentenced all the accused to life imprisonment in the case.

The incident related to the case occurred on October 3, 2005. Rijith, along with his friends Nikesh, Vimal, Vikas, and Sajeevan, was walking home at 9 PM when a 10-member gang attacked them near the Panchayat well close to Chunda Thachankandi. Rijith, who was severely injured, died at the scene. The murder stemmed from a dispute related to the opening of a branch at a nearby temple.

The accused in the case are Highway Anil, Ajindran from Pathiyapuram, Bhaskaran, Sreejith, Sreekanth, Rajesh, Ajesh, Jayesh, and Ranjith, who were all RSS-BJP activists from Chunda and the surrounding areas. The third accused, Ajesh, died in a road accident after the incident. The court examined the witnesses related to the case. 59 documents and 50 oral testimonies were presented before the court by the prosecution.
